MLINDA

MLINDA installs solar mini-grids and sell the energy for domestic and productive uses in rural India. It supports these communities to build financially and environmentally sustainable businesses from the energy produced. The villages experience positive environmental, social and financial outcomes such as a reduction in CO2 emissions and increased household incomes. Women spend less time on domestic chores and children study longer under healthier lighting.
Its work addresses the two main drivers of climate change and depletion of natural resources. The first is the vast combustion of fossil fuels for domestic and industrial energy supply. The second is the continuous deforestation of land use to meet ever increasing demands of industry and agriculture.
Its Vision: Scale livelihoods and incomes sustainably via clean energy.
Its Approach: Franchise model with local ownership.
Its Target: 750 villages in India over 5 years.
