The UAE Sustainability Championship is an inter-university competition that brings together some of the most innovative and driven student teams to propose real-world sustainability solutions. A total of 17 teams will be selected, and each team will be allocated one of the United Nationsβ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the official kickoff meeting on 30th April.
Participants will then focus their efforts on developing a business-driven, UAE-specific solution aligned with the assigned SDG. The event encourages strategic thinking, entrepreneurial problem-solving, and impactful solution development within a structured and competitive framework.

Vikram Krishna is the Co-Founder of Sacred Groves, a conservation initiative leveraging digital technology to protect natural habitats. After a 28-year career in banking and corporate leadership, he transitioned to environmental advocacy, focusing on forest preservation and sustainability. Inspired by the principles of intergenerational equity, he aims to leave a flourishing planet for future generations. As a long-distance runner, he embodies endurance in his mission to protect nature.

Urooj Khan is the ESG Assurance Leader for UAE & Oman at KPMG Lower Gulf. A qualified chartered accountant, she specializes in ESG assurance and audit services, helping organizations navigate sustainability reporting and compliance. Her role focuses on integrating ESG principles into corporate governance and risk management frameworks.

Yasin Kasirga is the Decarbonization Leader for GE Vernova's Carbon Solutions in the Middle East & Africa, focusing on low-carbon fuels and carbon capture technologies. With over 18 years of experience, he has led the development of more than 11 GW in gas and renewable energy projects across EMEA. He played a key role in COP28, co-authoring the βTripling Renewable Power and Doubling Energy Efficiency by 2030β report. Yasin holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration, along with an Executive MBA from Middle East Technical University.

Priya Sarma is the Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability for Unilever's Beauty & Wellbeing category across the GCC, Turkey, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Recognized as one of Campaign Magazine's Top 10 Marketing Game Changers in 2020, she has led impactful initiatives like the Unilever Arabia mangrove restoration campaign, aiming to plant over 6,000 mangroves in the UAE to absorb approximately 120,000 kg of COβe over five years .
