UAE Sustainability Championship

The UAE Sustainability Championship is an inter-university competition that brings together some of the most innovative and driven student teams to propose real-world sustainability solutions. A total of 17 teams will be selected, and each team will be allocated one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the official kickoff meeting on 30th April.

Participants will then focus their efforts on developing a business-driven, UAE-specific solution aligned with the assigned SDG. The event encourages strategic thinking, entrepreneurial problem-solving, and impactful solution development within a structured and competitive framework.


Each team will be expected to:

  • Present on the assigned SDG, exploring its relevance and implementation opportunities in the UAE
  • Analyze successful global examples and extract actionable lessons
  • Propose a solution that is feasible, innovative, and aligned with the UAE’s sustainability objectives
  • Deliver a compelling seven-minute pitch showcasing the research, insights, and implementation roadmap

This event provides students with an opportunity to apply academic concepts to real challenges, connect with industry experts, and contribute meaningfully to the sustainability conversation in the region.

Important Dates

  • 27th April 2025 – Registration Closes
  • 30th April 2025 at 6:00 PM – Kick-off Meeting on Zoom
  • Teams will be formally onboarded
  • Event guidelines, judging criteria, and expectations will be explained
  • Each team will be randomly assigned an SDG to work on for the competition


Registration Guidelines

  • Each team must have 3 student members
  • Only one team member should submit the registration form on behalf of the team
  • Selection is based on the quality and clarity of answers in the registration form
  • Teams from external universities will have limited slots, so early submissions are encouraged
